Prayer Times in Amman, Jordan

Praying in Amman

Amman prays Fajr at 5:25 am today, with Maghrib at 5:49 pm and Isha at 7:19 pm. Each of them moves slightly from one day to the next; the page rebuilds daily, so what you see is current.

For tahajjud

From Isha to Fajr is around 10 hours and 6 minutes at the moment. For anyone praying tahajjud, the last third of that period is the part traditionally singled out — work back from Fajr rather than forward from Isha to find it.

Through the year

Amman sits far enough from the equator for the difference to be felt. Midsummer stretches the day, midwinter compresses it, and the prayer times follow.

Ramadan timings

Suhoor ends at Fajr — 5:25 am today — and the fast breaks at Maghrib, 5:49 pm. Around 12 hours and 24 minutes without food or water today. The monthly table further down shows the window widening or narrowing day by day, which helps when planning meals a week ahead.

Why your mosque may differ slightly

These times follow Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. Dhuhr, Asr and Maghrib are largely settled across methods; Fajr and Isha are where authorities part company. Asr here follows the Hanafi reckoning, which places it noticeably later in the afternoon than the other schools would. A small gap between this page and your nearest masjid is nothing to worry about; go with theirs.

The shape of the day

The first call comes at 5:25 am, for Fajr. Sunrise at 6:50 am closes that window. Dhuhr follows at 12:20 pm once the sun has tipped past its highest point, and Asr at 4:12 pm. Sunset brings Maghrib at 5:49 pm; Isha is the last, at 7:19 pm. That is some 10 hours and 59 minutes between the sun coming up and going down.

Finding the qibla

Face south-south-east — roughly 161° on a compass — and you are pointed at the Kaaba. Makkah is around 1,233 kilometres (766 miles) away in a straight line. Compass apps usually read magnetic north rather than true north, so allow a few degrees of local declination if you are setting a prayer mat precisely.
