Prayer Times in Awka, Nigeria

Praying in Awka

One of the quieter advantages of praying in Awka is how little the timetable moves. The day runs close to twelve hours in every month, so the gap between a summer and a winter timetable here is small enough to miss.

Awka today, prayer by prayer

The first call comes at 5:05 am, for Fajr. You have until 6:18 am, when the sun comes up. After the sun peaks, Dhuhr is prayed at 12:15 pm, and Asr at 4:34 pm. Maghrib is prayed at 6:13 pm as the light goes, then Isha at 7:43 pm. Sunrise to sunset, today runs about 11 hours and 55 minutes.

Other Nigeria timetables

13 other cities in Nigeria are listed on this site, each with its own calculated timetable. If you are travelling within the country, use the page for where you actually are; the difference is small but real.

Method and madhab

Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah is the standard applied to this page. The disagreement between methods lives almost entirely in Fajr and Isha, where the sun is below the horizon and the chosen angle decides the time. Asr is Hanafi on this page, so expect it later than a Shafi timetable would show. If the mosque down the road announces something a few minutes different, pray with the mosque.

Lining up with the Kaaba

Turn east-north-east, about 61°, for the qibla. That puts the Kaaba roughly 3,908 km — 2,428 miles — from here.

Fasting hours

Stop eating by 5:05 am; break the fast at 6:13 pm. That is about 13 hours and 8 minutes on today's times. The full month is listed below if you want to see where the fast is heading.
