The prayer day in Muscat

Prayer times for Muscat, Oman are calculated from where the city actually is (23.61° N, 58.59° E), which matters more than people expect. Sunrise and sunset shift by a few minutes between neighbouring towns, and the prayer times move with them.

The last third of the night

From Isha to Fajr is around 9 hours and 53 minutes at the moment. For anyone praying tahajjud, the last third of that period is the part traditionally singled out — work back from Fajr rather than forward from Isha to find it.

From Fajr to Isha

Fajr opens the day at 4:51 am, well before first light. Sunrise at 6:10 am closes that window. Dhuhr follows at 11:49 am once the sun has tipped past its highest point, and Asr at 3:52 pm. The sun goes down at Maghrib, 5:28 pm, and the day ends with Isha at 6:58 pm. That gives Muscat roughly 11 hours and 18 minutes of daylight today.

How the times are worked out

Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah is the standard applied to this page. Methods differ mainly over Fajr and Isha, because each authority settles on a slightly different angle of the sun below the horizon — a few minutes either way is normal. Asr here follows the Hanafi reckoning, which places it noticeably later in the afternoon than the other schools would. Where your local mosque differs, follow the mosque — that is the timetable the congregation keeps.
