Prayer Times in Bojnik, Serbia

About the times on this page

Anyone praying in Bojnik faces south-east, which works out to around 139°. That is roughly 2,930 kilometres in a straight line. The times themselves are worked out from the city's exact position.

How the times are worked out

The underlying method is Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. Where two calculations disagree it is nearly always Fajr or Isha: those depend on twilight, and twilight is a judgement call. Asr here follows the Hanafi reckoning, which places it noticeably later in the afternoon than the other schools would. Local practice wins over any website, this one included.

For tahajjud

Bojnik gets roughly 10 hours and 26 minutes of night between the last prayer and the first. For anyone praying tahajjud, the last third of that period is the part traditionally singled out — work back from Fajr rather than forward from Isha to find it.

How the day runs in Bojnik

Fajr is at 4:25 am — early, and in darkness. The window stays open until sunrise, 6:04 am. Dhuhr follows at 11:17 am once the sun has tipped past its highest point, and Asr at 2:47 pm. Maghrib comes with sunset at 4:29 pm, and Isha closes the day at 5:59 pm. Around 10 hours and 25 minutes of daylight, all told.

A quirk of the timezone

True midday in Bojnik arrives some 43 minutes before what the clock reads. Hence Dhuhr at 11:17 am, with the rest of the afternoon following along behind it. Nothing is wrong with the calculation; timezones are political lines, and the sun does not consult them.

The yearly swing

Summer and winter look like different timetables entirely in Bojnik. The times can shift by several hours between the two ends of the year.

Suhoor and iftar in Bojnik

The fasting day here runs 4:25 am to 4:29 pm: suhoor closes at the first, iftar comes at the second. Today it works out to some 12 hours and 4 minutes. The monthly table further down shows the window widening or narrowing day by day, which helps when planning meals a week ahead.
