Prayer Times in Damascus, Syria

Prayer times in Damascus

Sunrise 6:51 am, sunset 5:46 pm — about 10 hours and 55 minutes of daylight in Damascus today. That number is the one driving the whole timetable: lengthen the day and Isha moves back, shorten it and the afternoon prayers crowd together.

Which way to face in Damascus

The qibla from here runs south-south-east, a bearing of about 165°. That puts the Kaaba roughly 1,389 km — 863 miles — from here. If you are marking a permanent direction in a room, check true north rather than trusting a phone compass alone.

What changes between summer and winter

The seasons show here without dominating. Summer in Damascus brings earlier Fajr times and a later Isha; winter pulls everything inward, and Maghrib can arrive while the afternoon still feels unfinished. Expect an hour or two of movement between the extremes.

A walk through today's times

Fajr is at 5:25 am — early, and in darkness. The window stays open until sunrise, 6:51 am. After the sun peaks, Dhuhr is prayed at 12:19 pm, and Asr at 4:08 pm. Maghrib comes with sunset at 5:46 pm, and Isha closes the day at 7:16 pm. Around 10 hours and 55 minutes of daylight, all told.

Ramadan timings

The fasting day here runs 5:25 am to 5:46 pm: suhoor closes at the first, iftar comes at the second. Today it works out to some 12 hours and 21 minutes. Scroll to the month view to see how the length changes as Ramadan progresses.

The calculation behind them

Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah is the standard applied to this page. Where two calculations disagree it is nearly always Fajr or Isha: those depend on twilight, and twilight is a judgement call. For Asr this page uses the Hanafi position — later in the day than the majority view. Local practice wins over any website, this one included.

For tahajjud

Between Isha at 7:16 pm and Fajr at 5:25 am there are about 10 hours and 9 minutes. For anyone praying tahajjud, the last third of that period is the part traditionally singled out — work back from Fajr rather than forward from Isha to find it.
