Prayer Times in Taichung, Taiwan

About the times on this page

There are around 9 hours and 54 minutes between Isha and Fajr in Taichung just now. Everything else on this page hangs off the same two points: when the sun sets and when it comes back.

Finding the qibla

The qibla from here runs west-north-west, a bearing of about 287°. Makkah is around 8,170 kilometres (5,077 miles) away in a straight line.

If you are fasting

The fasting day here runs 4:43 am to 5:19 pm: suhoor closes at the first, iftar comes at the second. Today it works out to some 12 hours and 36 minutes. The monthly table further down shows the window widening or narrowing day by day, which helps when planning meals a week ahead.

How much the times move

Across the year the Taichung timetable shifts by an hour or two at each end — long summer evenings push Isha back, short winter days crowd Dhuhr, Asr and Maghrib together.

Today's timetable

Fajr is at 4:43 am — early, and in darkness. By 6:02 am the sun is up and Fajr's time has passed. Midday brings Dhuhr at 11:41 am; Asr comes round at 3:44 pm. Maghrib comes with sunset at 5:19 pm, and Isha closes the day at 6:49 pm. Around 11 hours and 17 minutes of daylight, all told.

Nearby cities

4 other cities in Taiwan are listed on this site, each with its own calculated timetable. It is worth switching to the right one when you travel — a few hundred kilometres east or west moves Fajr and Maghrib by a noticeable margin.

A note on the method used

Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah is the standard applied to this page. Where two calculations disagree it is nearly always Fajr or Isha: those depend on twilight, and twilight is a judgement call. For Asr this page uses the Hanafi position — later in the day than the majority view. Local practice wins over any website, this one included.
