Prayer Times in Couva, Trinidad and Tobago

About the times on this page

There are around 11 hours and 46 minutes between sunrise and sunset in Couva today. That number is the one driving the whole timetable: lengthen the day and Isha moves back, shorten it and the afternoon prayers crowd together.

Season by season in Couva

Near the equator the timetable is remarkably stable. Couva sees close to twelve hours of daylight in every month, so Fajr and Maghrib move by minutes rather than hours across the year.

Fasting hours

The fasting day here runs 4:43 am to 5:42 pm: suhoor closes at the first, iftar comes at the second. Today it works out to some 12 hours and 59 minutes. Scroll to the month view to see how the length changes as Ramadan progresses.

Finding the qibla

The qibla from here runs east-north-east, a bearing of about 67°. That puts the Kaaba roughly 10,729 km — 6,667 miles — from here. If you are marking a permanent direction in a room, check true north rather than trusting a phone compass alone.

Method and madhab

Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah is the standard applied to this page. Where two calculations disagree it is nearly always Fajr or Isha: those depend on twilight, and twilight is a judgement call. Asr here follows the Hanafi reckoning, which places it noticeably later in the afternoon than the other schools would. Local practice wins over any website, this one included.

How the day runs in Couva

Fajr is at 4:43 am — early, and in darkness. The sun appears at 5:56 am, which ends the Fajr period. Dhuhr 11:49 am, Asr 4:05 pm — the two that carry the middle of the day. Maghrib comes with sunset at 5:42 pm, and Isha closes the day at 7:12 pm. Around 11 hours and 46 minutes of daylight, all told.

For tahajjud

Couva gets roughly 9 hours and 31 minutes of night between the last prayer and the first. For anyone praying tahajjud, the last third of that period is the part traditionally singled out — work back from Fajr rather than forward from Isha to find it.
