Prayer Times in Fornaka, Algeria

The prayer day in Fornaka

These are Fornaka's own prayer times, not a regional approximation — they come from the coordinates 35.75° N, 0.02° W. Sunrise and sunset shift by a few minutes between neighbouring towns, and the prayer times move with them.

The last third of the night

Between Isha at 7:38 pm and Fajr at 5:51 am there are about 10 hours and 13 minutes. For anyone praying tahajjud, the last third of that period is the part traditionally singled out — work back from Fajr rather than forward from Isha to find it.

What changes between summer and winter

Fornaka sees a large seasonal spread — very early summer Fajr times, a very late Isha, then a tightly packed winter day. The month view below is the reliable way to keep track.

If you are travelling

Algeria has 11 other cities covered on this site. The list under the timetable below will take you to any of them.

Today's timetable

The day's first prayer, Fajr, falls at 5:51 am. Sunrise at 7:19 am closes that window. After the sun peaks, Dhuhr is prayed at 12:44 pm, and Asr at 4:29 pm. The sun goes down at Maghrib, 6:08 pm, and the day ends with Isha at 7:38 pm. That gives Fornaka roughly 10 hours and 49 minutes of daylight today.

The fasting day in Fornaka

Suhoor closes at 5:51 am in Fornaka, with iftar at 6:08 pm. Roughly 12 hours and 17 minutes, going by today's figures. The full month is listed below if you want to see where the fast is heading.

Clock time and solar time

The sun reaches its high point roughly 44 minutes after noon here. That is why Dhuhr sits at 12:44 pm rather than just past midday, and it carries through to Asr, Maghrib and Isha as well. This catches people out regularly, but prayer follows the sun, and the clock is only the label we put on it.

Method and madhab

The calculation used here is Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. Methods differ mainly over Fajr and Isha, because each authority settles on a slightly different angle of the sun below the horizon — a few minutes either way is normal. Asr is Hanafi on this page, so expect it later than a Shafi timetable would show. Where your local mosque differs, follow the mosque — that is the timetable the congregation keeps.

The direction of prayer

From this city the direction is east-south-east, or 101° if you prefer the number. Makkah is around 4,169 kilometres (2,590 miles) away in a straight line.
