Prayer Times in La Merced, Argentina

La Merced, hour by hour

Sunrise 6:35 am, sunset 7:36 pm — about 13 hours and 1 minutes of daylight in La Merced today. None of the five are fixed to the clock — they follow the sun, and the sun keeps different hours in every month.

A walk through today's times

Fajr opens the day at 5:12 am, well before first light. The window stays open until sunrise, 6:35 am. Dhuhr 1:06 pm, Asr 5:42 pm — the two that carry the middle of the day. Maghrib comes with sunset at 7:36 pm, and Isha closes the day at 9:06 pm. Around 13 hours and 1 minutes of daylight, all told.

If you are fasting

The fasting day here runs 5:12 am to 7:36 pm: suhoor closes at the first, iftar comes at the second. Today it works out to some 14 hours and 24 minutes. Scroll to the month view to see how the length changes as Ramadan progresses.

The clock against the sun

The sun reaches its high point roughly 66 minutes after noon here. It explains the 1:06 pm Dhuhr — the timezone boundary is drawn some way from this city's own meridian. This catches people out regularly, but prayer follows the sun, and the clock is only the label we put on it.

Through the year

Across the year the La Merced timetable shifts by an hour or two at each end — long summer evenings push Isha back, short winter days crowd Dhuhr, Asr and Maghrib together.

Qibla from La Merced

The qibla from here runs east-north-east, a bearing of about 76°. That puts the Kaaba roughly 12,469 km — 7,748 miles — from here.

Why your mosque may differ slightly

The underlying method is Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. Where two calculations disagree it is nearly always Fajr or Isha: those depend on twilight, and twilight is a judgement call. Asr here follows the Hanafi reckoning, which places it noticeably later in the afternoon than the other schools would. Local practice wins over any website, this one included.
