Prayer Times in Al Qā’im, Iraq

The prayer day in Al Qā’im

Al Qā’im is close enough to Makkah that the qibla barely needs a compass. The qibla runs at about 185° from here, which is more or less south.

Why your mosque may differ slightly

The calculation used here is Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. The disagreement between methods lives almost entirely in Fajr and Isha, where the sun is below the horizon and the chosen angle decides the time. For Asr this page uses the Hanafi position — later in the day than the majority view. If the mosque down the road announces something a few minutes different, pray with the mosque.

Nearby cities

There are 4 more Iraq cities here, and each has its own times rather than sharing Al Qā’im's. It is worth switching to the right one when you travel — a few hundred kilometres east or west moves Fajr and Maghrib by a noticeable margin.

Isha to Fajr

Between Isha at 6:55 pm and Fajr at 5:07 am there are about 10 hours and 12 minutes. The final third of the night carries particular weight in the tradition, and it is measured from Isha to Fajr rather than by the clock.

Al Qā’im today, prayer by prayer

It starts in the dark, with Fajr at 5:07 am. Sunrise at 6:34 am closes that window. Dhuhr 11:59 am, Asr 3:47 pm — the two that carry the middle of the day. Maghrib is prayed at 5:25 pm as the light goes, then Isha at 6:55 pm. Sunrise to sunset, today runs about 10 hours and 51 minutes.

Through the year

Across the year the Al Qā’im timetable shifts by an hour or two at each end — long summer evenings push Isha back, short winter days crowd Dhuhr, Asr and Maghrib together.

Fasting hours

Stop eating by 5:07 am; break the fast at 5:25 pm. That is about 12 hours and 18 minutes on today's times. Scroll to the month view to see how the length changes as Ramadan progresses.
