Prayer Times in Quzanlı, Azerbaijan

Quzanlı prayer times explained

The times below are worked out for Quzanlı itself, from the city's own coordinates (40.16° N, 47.16° E). It is a small distinction that matters in practice: the sun does not arrive everywhere in a country at once.

Ramadan timings

Stop eating by 5:46 am; break the fast at 5:49 pm. That is about 12 hours and 3 minutes on today's times. Scroll to the month view to see how the length changes as Ramadan progresses.

Quzanlı today, prayer by prayer

Everything begins with Fajr, 5:46 am today. Sunrise at 7:20 am closes that window. Dhuhr follows at 12:35 pm once the sun has tipped past its highest point, and Asr at 4:08 pm. Maghrib is prayed at 5:49 pm as the light goes, then Isha at 7:19 pm. Sunrise to sunset, today runs about 10 hours and 29 minutes.

Qibla from Quzanlı

Turn south-south-west, about 201°, for the qibla. Makkah is around 2,196 kilometres (1,364 miles) away in a straight line.

How the times are worked out

The underlying method is Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. The disagreement between methods lives almost entirely in Fajr and Isha, where the sun is below the horizon and the chosen angle decides the time. Asr here follows the Hanafi reckoning, which places it noticeably later in the afternoon than the other schools would. If the mosque down the road announces something a few minutes different, pray with the mosque.

Clock time and solar time

True midday in Quzanlı arrives some 35 minutes after what the clock reads. That is why Dhuhr sits at 12:35 pm rather than just past midday, and it carries through to Asr, Maghrib and Isha as well. This catches people out regularly, but prayer follows the sun, and the clock is only the label we put on it.

Through the year

The yearly swing here is substantial. In June, Fajr in Quzanlı can fall in the small hours with Isha holding off until late evening; in December the whole day from Fajr to Isha is over in a short span. Check the monthly timetable rather than assuming last season's times still hold.
