Prayer Times in Bogotá, Colombia

Praying in Bogotá

Sunrise 5:41 am, sunset 5:39 pm — about 11 hours and 58 minutes of daylight in Bogotá today. Prayer times are anchored to the sun rather than the clock, so as that figure grows and shrinks across the year, every time below moves with it.

Through the year

There is not much of a yearly swing here. Daylight hovers around twelve hours all year in Bogotá, keeping the whole timetable within a narrow band.

Suhoor and iftar in Bogotá

Qibla from Bogotá

Face east-north-east — roughly 65° on a compass — and you are pointed at the Kaaba. Makkah is around 12,263 kilometres (7,620 miles) away in a straight line. Compass apps usually read magnetic north rather than true north, so allow a few degrees of local declination if you are setting a prayer mat precisely.

How the times are worked out

The underlying method is Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. Dhuhr, Asr and Maghrib are largely settled across methods; Fajr and Isha are where authorities part company. Asr is Hanafi on this page, so expect it later than a Shafi timetable would show. A small gap between this page and your nearest masjid is nothing to worry about; go with theirs.

From Fajr to Isha

The first call comes at 4:28 am, for Fajr. The window stays open until sunrise, 5:41 am. After the sun peaks, Dhuhr is prayed at 11:40 am, and Asr at 3:59 pm. Sunset brings Maghrib at 5:39 pm; Isha is the last, at 7:09 pm. That is some 11 hours and 58 minutes between the sun coming up and going down.
