Prayer Times in Karaj, Iran

Praying in Karaj

Every time on this page traces back to one pair of numbers: 35.83° N, 50.99° E, the position of Karaj itself. The difference between one town and the next is only minutes, but those minutes are the whole of Fajr and Maghrib.

Qibla from Karaj

The qibla from here runs south-west, a bearing of about 217°. Makkah is around 1,935 kilometres (1,202 miles) away in a straight line.

How the day runs in Karaj

Fajr is at 4:57 am — early, and in darkness. The window stays open until sunrise, 6:26 am. Dhuhr 11:50 am, Asr 3:34 pm — the two that carry the middle of the day. Maghrib comes with sunset at 5:13 pm, and Isha closes the day at 6:43 pm. Around 10 hours and 47 minutes of daylight, all told.

How much the times move

Karaj sees a large seasonal spread — very early summer Fajr times, a very late Isha, then a tightly packed winter day. The month view below is the reliable way to keep track.

If you are fasting

The fasting day here runs 4:57 am to 5:13 pm: suhoor closes at the first, iftar comes at the second. Today it works out to some 12 hours and 16 minutes. Scroll to the month view to see how the length changes as Ramadan progresses.

A note on the method used

The calculation used here is Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. Where two calculations disagree it is nearly always Fajr or Isha: those depend on twilight, and twilight is a judgement call. Asr is Hanafi on this page, so expect it later than a Shafi timetable would show. Local practice wins over any website, this one included.

A few things worth knowing

No need to bookmark a timetable: the page recalculates for Karaj daily.
