From this city the direction is south-west, or 218° if you prefer the number. Makkah is around 1,944 kilometres (1,208 miles) away in a straight line.

Season by season in Tehran

The yearly swing here is substantial. In June, Fajr in Tehran can fall in the small hours with Isha holding off until late evening; in December the whole day from Fajr to Isha is over in a short span. Check the monthly timetable rather than assuming last season's times still hold.

Tehran today, prayer by prayer

The day's first prayer, Fajr, falls at 4:55 am. The window stays open until sunrise, 6:23 am. Next is Dhuhr at 11:48 am, then Asr in the afternoon at 3:34 pm. The sun goes down at Maghrib, 5:12 pm, and the day ends with Isha at 6:42 pm. That gives Tehran roughly 10 hours and 49 minutes of daylight today.

Method and madhab

Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah is the standard applied to this page. Methods differ mainly over Fajr and Isha, because each authority settles on a slightly different angle of the sun below the horizon — a few minutes either way is normal. Asr here follows the Hanafi reckoning, which places it noticeably later in the afternoon than the other schools would. Where your local mosque differs, follow the mosque — that is the timetable the congregation keeps.

The fasting day in Tehran

Suhoor closes at 4:55 am in Tehran, with iftar at 5:12 pm. Roughly 12 hours and 17 minutes, going by today's figures. The monthly table further down shows the window widening or narrowing day by day, which helps when planning meals a week ahead.
