Prayer Times in Guasavito, Mexico

Guasavito prayer times explained

Guasavito is a long way from Makkah — about 13,769 kilometres (8,556 miles) in a straight line. Over that distance the shortest path curves noticeably, which is why the qibla here points north-east (36°) rather than the direction a flat map would suggest.

A note on the method used

Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah is the standard applied to this page. Methods differ mainly over Fajr and Isha, because each authority settles on a slightly different angle of the sun below the horizon — a few minutes either way is normal. Asr is Hanafi on this page, so expect it later than a Shafi timetable would show. Where your local mosque differs, follow the mosque — that is the timetable the congregation keeps.

If you are fasting

Suhoor closes at 5:00 am in Guasavito, with iftar at 5:34 pm. Roughly 12 hours and 34 minutes, going by today's figures. The full month is listed below if you want to see where the fast is heading.

The shape of the day

Fajr opens the day at 5:00 am, well before first light. The sun appears at 6:20 am, which ends the Fajr period. Next is Dhuhr at 11:57 am, then Asr in the afternoon at 3:58 pm. The sun goes down at Maghrib, 5:34 pm, and the day ends with Isha at 7:04 pm. That gives Guasavito roughly 11 hours and 14 minutes of daylight today.

How much the times move

Guasavito sits far enough from the equator for the difference to be felt. Midsummer stretches the day, midwinter compresses it, and the prayer times follow.

The night in between

Guasavito gets roughly 9 hours and 56 minutes of night between the last prayer and the first. The final third of the night carries particular weight in the tradition, and it is measured from Isha to Fajr rather than by the clock.
