Nochistlán de Mejía is a long way from Makkah — about 13,766 kilometres (8,554 miles) in a straight line. The bearing works out to roughly 43°, or north-east — a great-circle direction, not the one you would draw on a flat map.

Fasting hours

Stop eating by 5:36 am; break the fast at 6:16 pm. That is about 12 hours and 40 minutes on today's times. The monthly table further down shows the window widening or narrowing day by day, which helps when planning meals a week ahead.

Across the year the Nochistlán de Mejía timetable shifts by an hour or two at each end — long summer evenings push Isha back, short winter days crowd Dhuhr, Asr and Maghrib together.

Other Mexico timetables

23 other cities in Mexico are listed on this site, each with its own calculated timetable. It is worth switching to the right one when you travel — a few hundred kilometres east or west moves Fajr and Maghrib by a noticeable margin.

From Fajr to Isha

It starts in the dark, with Fajr at 5:36 am. Sunrise at 6:54 am closes that window. Dhuhr 12:35 pm, Asr 4:40 pm — the two that carry the middle of the day. Maghrib is prayed at 6:16 pm as the light goes, then Isha at 7:46 pm. Sunrise to sunset, today runs about 11 hours and 22 minutes.

Why Dhuhr lands where it does

The sun reaches its high point roughly 35 minutes after noon here. That is why Dhuhr sits at 12:35 pm rather than just past midday, and it carries through to Asr, Maghrib and Isha as well. It is not an error — timezones are drawn for administrative convenience, not astronomical accuracy.

How the times are worked out

The underlying method is Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. The disagreement between methods lives almost entirely in Fajr and Isha, where the sun is below the horizon and the chosen angle decides the time. Asr here follows the Hanafi reckoning, which places it noticeably later in the afternoon than the other schools would. If the mosque down the road announces something a few minutes different, pray with the mosque.
