Ramadan timings

Suhoor closes at 4:59 am in Angādikkal Tekkekara, with iftar at 6:01 pm. Roughly 13 hours and 2 minutes, going by today's figures. The full month is listed below if you want to see where the fast is heading.

From Fajr to Isha

Fajr is at 4:59 am — early, and in darkness. You have until 6:12 am, when the sun comes up. Dhuhr follows at 12:07 pm once the sun has tipped past its highest point, and Asr at 4:23 pm. The sun goes down at Maghrib, 6:01 pm, and the day ends with Isha at 7:31 pm. That gives Angādikkal Tekkekara roughly 11 hours and 49 minutes of daylight today.

The direction of prayer

From this city the direction is west-north-west, or 293° if you prefer the number. That puts the Kaaba roughly 4,176 km — 2,595 miles — from here. Compass apps usually read magnetic north rather than true north, so allow a few degrees of local declination if you are setting a prayer mat precisely.

Where these times come from

The calculation used here is Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. Methods differ mainly over Fajr and Isha, because each authority settles on a slightly different angle of the sun below the horizon — a few minutes either way is normal. Asr here follows the Hanafi reckoning, which places it noticeably later in the afternoon than the other schools would. Where your local mosque differs, follow the mosque — that is the timetable the congregation keeps.
