Prayer Times in Estevan, Canada

Estevan prayer times explained

Fajr 5:45 am, Maghrib 5:35 pm, Isha 7:05 pm — that is the shape of today in Estevan. Those times shift by a minute or two most days as the sun moves, and this page recalculates them every morning rather than holding a fixed list.

Elsewhere in Canada

There are 10 more Canada cities here, and each has its own times rather than sharing Estevan's. If you are travelling within the country, use the page for where you actually are; the difference is small but real.

The yearly swing

Estevan is far enough north that calculated Fajr and Isha times become unreliable around midsummer, when twilight lasts all night. Most communities this far up adopt a local ruling for those weeks; ask at your mosque. Outside that stretch, the ordinary calculation applies.

Qibla from Estevan

Turn north-east, about 35°, for the qibla. That puts the Kaaba roughly 11,349 km — 7,052 miles — from here.

The fasting day in Estevan

Stop eating by 5:45 am; break the fast at 5:35 pm. That is about 11 hours and 50 minutes on today's times. Scroll to the month view to see how the length changes as Ramadan progresses.

Clock time and solar time

The sun reaches its high point roughly 36 minutes after noon here. That is why Dhuhr sits at 12:36 pm rather than just past midday, and it carries through to Asr, Maghrib and Isha as well. This catches people out regularly, but prayer follows the sun, and the clock is only the label we put on it.

How the times are worked out

These times follow Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. The disagreement between methods lives almost entirely in Fajr and Isha, where the sun is below the horizon and the chosen angle decides the time. Asr is Hanafi on this page, so expect it later than a Shafi timetable would show. If the mosque down the road announces something a few minutes different, pray with the mosque.

A walk through today's times

It starts in the dark, with Fajr at 5:45 am. By 7:35 am the sun is up and Fajr's time has passed. Dhuhr follows at 12:36 pm once the sun has tipped past its highest point, and Asr at 3:49 pm. Maghrib is prayed at 5:35 pm as the light goes, then Isha at 7:05 pm. Sunrise to sunset, today runs about 10 hours.
