Prayer Times in Mississauga, Canada

The prayer day in Mississauga

People new to Mississauga tend to notice the same thing — midday on the clock is nowhere near midday in the sky. True midday arrives some 62 minutes after what the clock reads, putting Dhuhr at 1:02 pm and dragging Asr, Maghrib and Isha along behind it.

Qibla from Mississauga

From this city the direction is north-east, or 54° if you prefer the number. The distance works out to about 10,517 kilometres, or 6,535 miles. Worth remembering that a phone compass points to magnetic north, which can sit several degrees off true north depending on where you are.

Where these times come from

Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah is the standard applied to this page. Methods differ mainly over Fajr and Isha, because each authority settles on a slightly different angle of the sun below the horizon — a few minutes either way is normal. For Asr this page uses the Hanafi position — later in the day than the majority view. Where your local mosque differs, follow the mosque — that is the timetable the congregation keeps.

If you are fasting

Suhoor closes at 6:12 am in Mississauga, with iftar at 6:12 pm. Roughly 12 hours, going by today's figures. The monthly table further down shows the window widening or narrowing day by day, which helps when planning meals a week ahead.

How the day runs in Mississauga

Fajr is at 6:12 am — early, and in darkness. You have until 7:52 am, when the sun comes up. After the sun peaks, Dhuhr is prayed at 1:02 pm, and Asr at 4:29 pm. The sun goes down at Maghrib, 6:12 pm, and the day ends with Isha at 7:42 pm. That gives Mississauga roughly 10 hours and 20 minutes of daylight today.

The night in between

From Isha to Fajr is around 10 hours and 30 minutes at the moment. For anyone praying tahajjud, the last third of that period is the part traditionally singled out — work back from Fajr rather than forward from Isha to find it.

Through the year

Mississauga sees a large seasonal spread — very early summer Fajr times, a very late Isha, then a tightly packed winter day. The month view below is the reliable way to keep track.
