Praying in Lucknow

There are around 9 hours and 59 minutes between Isha and Fajr in Lucknow just now. The whole timetable below follows the same movement — as the nights lengthen, every time on the page moves with them.

Lucknow today, prayer by prayer

The day's first prayer, Fajr, falls at 4:54 am. By 6:14 am the sun is up and Fajr's time has passed. Next is Dhuhr at 11:50 am, then Asr in the afternoon at 3:49 pm. The sun goes down at Maghrib, 5:25 pm, and the day ends with Isha at 6:55 pm. That gives Lucknow roughly 11 hours and 11 minutes of daylight today.

If you are fasting

Season by season in Lucknow

Lucknow sits far enough from the equator for the difference to be felt. Midsummer stretches the day, midwinter compresses it, and the prayer times follow.

The direction of prayer

From this city the direction is west, or 271° if you prefer the number. That puts the Kaaba roughly 4,198 km — 2,609 miles — from here.

Method and madhab

Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah is the standard applied to this page. Methods differ mainly over Fajr and Isha, because each authority settles on a slightly different angle of the sun below the horizon — a few minutes either way is normal. For Asr this page uses the Hanafi position — later in the day than the majority view. Where your local mosque differs, follow the mosque — that is the timetable the congregation keeps.

Isha to Fajr

Between Isha at 6:55 pm and Fajr at 4:54 am there are about 9 hours and 59 minutes. For anyone praying tahajjud, the last third of that period is the part traditionally singled out — work back from Fajr rather than forward from Isha to find it.
