Prayer Times in Pachauth, India

Praying in Pachauth

The times below are worked out for Pachauth itself, from the city's own coordinates (25.58° N, 86.81° E). Two towns an hour apart see the sun rise at different moments, and since Fajr and Maghrib follow the sun rather than the clock, those minutes carry straight through to the timetable.

A quirk of the timezone

The sun reaches its high point roughly 34 minutes before noon here. Hence Dhuhr at 11:26 am, with the rest of the afternoon following along behind it. This catches people out regularly, but prayer follows the sun, and the clock is only the label we put on it.

A note on the method used

The underlying method is Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. Where two calculations disagree it is nearly always Fajr or Isha: those depend on twilight, and twilight is a judgement call. Asr is Hanafi on this page, so expect it later than a Shafi timetable would show. Local practice wins over any website, this one included.

Pachauth today, prayer by prayer

Fajr opens the day at 4:30 am, well before first light. The window stays open until sunrise, 5:49 am. Next is Dhuhr at 11:26 am, then Asr in the afternoon at 3:27 pm. Maghrib comes with sunset at 5:03 pm, and Isha closes the day at 6:33 pm. Around 11 hours and 14 minutes of daylight, all told.

Suhoor and iftar in Pachauth

The fasting day here runs 4:30 am to 5:03 pm: suhoor closes at the first, iftar comes at the second. Today it works out to some 12 hours and 33 minutes. The monthly table further down shows the window widening or narrowing day by day, which helps when planning meals a week ahead.

Qibla from Pachauth

The qibla from here runs west, a bearing of about 275°. The distance works out to about 4,789 kilometres, or 2,976 miles. If you are marking a permanent direction in a room, check true north rather than trusting a phone compass alone.

For tahajjud

From Isha to Fajr is around 9 hours and 57 minutes at the moment. For anyone praying tahajjud, the last third of that period is the part traditionally singled out — work back from Fajr rather than forward from Isha to find it.

The yearly swing

Across the year the Pachauth timetable shifts by an hour or two at each end — long summer evenings push Isha back, short winter days crowd Dhuhr, Asr and Maghrib together.

Nearby cities

India has 135 other cities covered on this site. It is worth switching to the right one when you travel — a few hundred kilometres east or west moves Fajr and Maghrib by a noticeable margin.
