Prayer Times in Tenmalai, India

Prayer times in Tenmalai

Tenmalai, India gets its own calculation here, run from the coordinates 9.31° N, 77.50° E rather than borrowed from a larger city nearby. A city an hour down the road will have times a few minutes apart from these, which is exactly why a country-wide timetable is a rough guide at best.

Why your mosque may differ slightly

Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah is the standard applied to this page. Methods differ mainly over Fajr and Isha, because each authority settles on a slightly different angle of the sun below the horizon — a few minutes either way is normal. Asr is Hanafi on this page, so expect it later than a Shafi timetable would show. Where your local mosque differs, follow the mosque — that is the timetable the congregation keeps.

Lining up with the Kaaba

From this city the direction is west-north-west, or 293° if you prefer the number. Makkah is around 4,244 kilometres (2,637 miles) away in a straight line. Worth remembering that a phone compass points to magnetic north, which can sit several degrees off true north depending on where you are.

If you are fasting

Suhoor closes at 4:56 am in Tenmalai, with iftar at 5:58 pm. Roughly 13 hours and 2 minutes, going by today's figures. The monthly table further down shows the window widening or narrowing day by day, which helps when planning meals a week ahead.

The yearly swing

There is not much of a yearly swing here. Daylight hovers around twelve hours all year in Tenmalai, keeping the whole timetable within a narrow band.

Today's timetable

Fajr is at 4:56 am — early, and in darkness. Sunrise at 6:09 am closes that window. Dhuhr follows at 12:04 pm once the sun has tipped past its highest point, and Asr at 4:20 pm. The sun goes down at Maghrib, 5:58 pm, and the day ends with Isha at 7:28 pm. That gives Tenmalai roughly 11 hours and 49 minutes of daylight today.
