Prayer Times in Vadacheri, India

Vadacheri prayer times explained

There is no national timetable behind this page — Vadacheri's times come from Vadacheri's own position, 10.73° N, 78.53° E. The difference between one town and the next is only minutes, but those minutes are the whole of Fajr and Maghrib.

The last third of the night

Between Isha at 7:22 pm and Fajr at 4:53 am there are about 9 hours and 31 minutes. The final third of the night carries particular weight in the tradition, and it is measured from Isha to Fajr rather than by the clock.

The calculation behind them

The calculation used here is Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. Methods differ mainly over Fajr and Isha, because each authority settles on a slightly different angle of the sun below the horizon — a few minutes either way is normal. For Asr this page uses the Hanafi position — later in the day than the majority view. Where your local mosque differs, follow the mosque — that is the timetable the congregation keeps.

How the day runs in Vadacheri

The day's first prayer, Fajr, falls at 4:53 am. The sun appears at 6:07 am, which ends the Fajr period. Dhuhr 12:00 pm, Asr 4:15 pm — the two that carry the middle of the day. The sun goes down at Maghrib, 5:52 pm, and the day ends with Isha at 7:22 pm. That gives Vadacheri roughly 11 hours and 45 minutes of daylight today.

Ramadan timings

Suhoor closes at 4:53 am in Vadacheri, with iftar at 5:52 pm. Roughly 12 hours and 59 minutes, going by today's figures. The full month is listed below if you want to see where the fast is heading.

How much the times move

Near the equator the timetable is remarkably stable. Vadacheri sees close to twelve hours of daylight in every month, so Fajr and Maghrib move by minutes rather than hours across the year.

The direction of prayer

From this city the direction is west-north-west, or 291° if you prefer the number. That puts the Kaaba roughly 4,289 km — 2,665 miles — from here.
