Prayer Times in Alsager, United Kingdom

What these times mean for Alsager

Today runs to roughly 9 hours and 35 minutes of daylight in Alsager, from sunrise at 7:05 am to sunset at 4:40 pm. That number is the one driving the whole timetable: lengthen the day and Isha moves back, shorten it and the afternoon prayers crowd together.

The calculation behind them

The underlying method is Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. Where two calculations disagree it is nearly always Fajr or Isha: those depend on twilight, and twilight is a judgement call. Asr here follows the Hanafi reckoning, which places it noticeably later in the afternoon than the other schools would. Local practice wins over any website, this one included.

Other United Kingdom timetables

United Kingdom has 20 other cities covered on this site. It is worth switching to the right one when you travel — a few hundred kilometres east or west moves Fajr and Maghrib by a noticeable margin.

What changes between summer and winter

There is a caveat to the summer timetable in Alsager. For several weeks around the solstice the sun does not dip deep enough for a true Fajr or Isha, and the calculated values become estimates. Local scholarly guidance takes over in that period.

Fasting hours

The fasting day here runs 5:04 am to 4:40 pm: suhoor closes at the first, iftar comes at the second. Today it works out to some 11 hours and 36 minutes. The monthly table further down shows the window widening or narrowing day by day, which helps when planning meals a week ahead.
