Prayer Times in Guildford, United Kingdom

Guildford prayer times explained

Guildford sits far enough from the equator that the prayer timetable barely resembles itself from one season to the next. Summer brings very early Fajr times and a late Isha; in December, Maghrib arrives while the afternoon still feels young.

Suhoor and iftar in Guildford

Suhoor ends at Fajr — 4:57 am today — and the fast breaks at Maghrib, 4:38 pm. Around 11 hours and 41 minutes without food or water today. The full month is listed below if you want to see where the fast is heading.

The night in between

Between Isha at 6:08 pm and Fajr at 4:57 am there are about 10 hours and 49 minutes. The final third of the night carries particular weight in the tradition, and it is measured from Isha to Fajr rather than by the clock.

Finding the qibla

Face east-south-east — roughly 118° on a compass — and you are pointed at the Kaaba. That puts the Kaaba roughly 4,806 km — 2,987 miles — from here. If you are marking a permanent direction in a room, check true north rather than trusting a phone compass alone.

From Fajr to Isha

Everything begins with Fajr, 4:57 am today. By 6:53 am the sun is up and Fajr's time has passed. Midday brings Dhuhr at 11:46 am; Asr comes round at 2:49 pm. Sunset brings Maghrib at 4:38 pm; Isha is the last, at 6:08 pm. That is some 9 hours and 45 minutes between the sun coming up and going down.

How the times are worked out

The underlying method is Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. Dhuhr, Asr and Maghrib are largely settled across methods; Fajr and Isha are where authorities part company. Asr is Hanafi on this page, so expect it later than a Shafi timetable would show. A small gap between this page and your nearest masjid is nothing to worry about; go with theirs.
