Kurayoshi prayer times explained

Which way to face in Kurayoshi

From this city the direction is west-north-west, or 290° if you prefer the number. Makkah is around 8,991 kilometres (5,587 miles) away in a straight line.

How the times are worked out

Calculations come from Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. Methods differ mainly over Fajr and Isha, because each authority settles on a slightly different angle of the sun below the horizon — a few minutes either way is normal. Asr is Hanafi on this page, so expect it later than a Shafi timetable would show. Where your local mosque differs, follow the mosque — that is the timetable the congregation keeps.

From Fajr to Isha

The day's first prayer, Fajr, falls at 4:55 am. Sunrise at 6:23 am closes that window. Dhuhr 11:48 am, Asr 3:35 pm — the two that carry the middle of the day. The sun goes down at Maghrib, 5:13 pm, and the day ends with Isha at 6:43 pm. That gives Kurayoshi roughly 10 hours and 50 minutes of daylight today.

Suhoor and iftar in Kurayoshi

Suhoor closes at 4:55 am in Kurayoshi, with iftar at 5:13 pm. Roughly 12 hours and 18 minutes, going by today's figures. The monthly table further down shows the window widening or narrowing day by day, which helps when planning meals a week ahead.

The last third of the night

From Isha to Fajr is around 10 hours and 12 minutes at the moment. If you pray tahajjud, the final third of that stretch is the one to aim for; counting backwards from Fajr is the easier way to locate it.

Season by season in Kurayoshi

Summer and winter look like different timetables entirely in Kurayoshi. The times can shift by several hours between the two ends of the year.
