Prayer Times in Misato, Japan

What these times mean for Misato

Few cities on this site sit further from the Kaaba than Misato: some 9,382 kilometres. Over that distance the shortest path curves noticeably, which is why the qibla here points west-north-west (293°) rather than the direction a flat map would suggest.

Why your mosque may differ slightly

Calculations come from Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. The disagreement between methods lives almost entirely in Fajr and Isha, where the sun is below the horizon and the chosen angle decides the time. Asr is Hanafi on this page, so expect it later than a Shafi timetable would show. If the mosque down the road announces something a few minutes different, pray with the mosque.

Isha to Fajr

From Isha to Fajr is around 10 hours and 19 minutes at the moment. For anyone praying tahajjud, the last third of that period is the part traditionally singled out — work back from Fajr rather than forward from Isha to find it.

Suhoor and iftar in Misato

Stop eating by 4:29 am; break the fast at 4:40 pm. That is about 12 hours and 11 minutes on today's times. The full month is listed below if you want to see where the fast is heading.

The clock against the sun

True midday in Misato arrives some 39 minutes before what the clock reads. That is why Dhuhr sits at 11:21 am rather than just past midday, and it carries through to Asr, Maghrib and Isha as well. This catches people out regularly, but prayer follows the sun, and the clock is only the label we put on it.

If you are travelling

There are 20 more Japan cities here, and each has its own times rather than sharing Misato's. If you are travelling within the country, use the page for where you actually are; the difference is small but real.
