Why your mosque may differ slightly

The underlying method is Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. Where two calculations disagree it is nearly always Fajr or Isha: those depend on twilight, and twilight is a judgement call. Asr here follows the Hanafi reckoning, which places it noticeably later in the afternoon than the other schools would. Local practice wins over any website, this one included.

Why Dhuhr lands where it does

True midday in Tokyo arrives some 35 minutes before what the clock reads. Hence Dhuhr at 11:25 am, with the rest of the afternoon following along behind it. This catches people out regularly, but prayer follows the sun, and the clock is only the label we put on it.
