Prayer Times in Sapporo, Japan

About the times on this page

Facing the Kaaba from Sapporo means turning west-north-west, roughly 293°. The Kaaba is about 9,283 kilometres off; the timetable below comes from this city's own coordinates.

The calculation behind them

Calculations come from Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. Dhuhr, Asr and Maghrib are largely settled across methods; Fajr and Isha are where authorities part company. Asr is Hanafi on this page, so expect it later than a Shafi timetable would show. A small gap between this page and your nearest masjid is nothing to worry about; go with theirs.

Clock time and solar time

True midday in Sapporo arrives some 42 minutes before what the clock reads. That is why Dhuhr sits at 11:18 am rather than just past midday, and it carries through to Asr, Maghrib and Isha as well. Nothing is wrong with the calculation; timezones are political lines, and the sun does not consult them.

What changes between summer and winter

Sapporo sees a large seasonal spread — very early summer Fajr times, a very late Isha, then a tightly packed winter day. The month view below is the reliable way to keep track.

How the day runs in Sapporo

Everything begins with Fajr, 4:26 am today. You have until 6:05 am, when the sun comes up. Dhuhr follows at 11:18 am once the sun has tipped past its highest point, and Asr at 2:49 pm. Sunset brings Maghrib at 4:31 pm; Isha is the last, at 6:01 pm. That is some 10 hours and 26 minutes between the sun coming up and going down.

The fasting day in Sapporo

Suhoor ends at Fajr — 4:26 am today — and the fast breaks at Maghrib, 4:31 pm. Around 12 hours and 5 minutes without food or water today. The monthly table further down shows the window widening or narrowing day by day, which helps when planning meals a week ahead.
