Prayer Times in Lamitan, Philippines

What these times mean for Lamitan

The night in Lamitan runs about 9 hours and 23 minutes at the moment — Isha at 7:02 pm to Fajr at 4:25 am. Everything else on this page hangs off the same two points: when the sun sets and when it comes back.

How the times are worked out

Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah is the standard applied to this page. The disagreement between methods lives almost entirely in Fajr and Isha, where the sun is below the horizon and the chosen angle decides the time. For Asr this page uses the Hanafi position — later in the day than the majority view. If the mosque down the road announces something a few minutes different, pray with the mosque.

From Fajr to Isha

The first call comes at 4:25 am, for Fajr. You have until 5:38 am, when the sun comes up. After the sun peaks, Dhuhr is prayed at 11:35 am, and Asr at 3:53 pm. Maghrib is prayed at 5:32 pm as the light goes, then Isha at 7:02 pm. Sunrise to sunset, today runs about 11 hours and 54 minutes.

Near the equator the timetable is remarkably stable. Lamitan sees close to twelve hours of daylight in every month, so Fajr and Maghrib move by minutes rather than hours across the year.

A quirk of the timezone

Solar noon in Lamitan falls about 25 minutes before twelve o'clock. Hence Dhuhr at 11:35 am, with the rest of the afternoon following along behind it. It is not an error — timezones are drawn for administrative convenience, not astronomical accuracy.
