Prayer Times in Bègles, France

Praying in Bègles

Bègles gets about 10 hours and 17 minutes of daylight today, and the five prayer times are spaced across it. Prayer times are anchored to the sun rather than the clock, so as that figure grows and shrinks across the year, every time below moves with it.

Clock time and solar time

True midday in Bègles arrives some 46 minutes after what the clock reads. That is why Dhuhr sits at 12:46 pm rather than just past midday, and it carries through to Asr, Maghrib and Isha as well. It is not an error — timezones are drawn for administrative convenience, not astronomical accuracy.

Season by season in Bègles

Summer and winter look like different timetables entirely in Bègles. The times can shift by several hours between the two ends of the year.

A walk through today's times

The day's first prayer, Fajr, falls at 5:56 am. By 7:37 am the sun is up and Fajr's time has passed. Midday brings Dhuhr at 12:46 pm; Asr comes round at 4:10 pm. The sun goes down at Maghrib, 5:54 pm, and the day ends with Isha at 7:24 pm. That gives Bègles roughly 10 hours and 17 minutes of daylight today.

The fasting day in Bègles

Suhoor closes at 5:56 am in Bègles, with iftar at 5:54 pm. Roughly 11 hours and 58 minutes, going by today's figures. The monthly table further down shows the window widening or narrowing day by day, which helps when planning meals a week ahead.

The last third of the night

From Isha to Fajr is around 10 hours and 32 minutes at the moment. The final third of the night carries particular weight in the tradition, and it is measured from Isha to Fajr rather than by the clock.

Where these times come from

The calculation used here is Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. Methods differ mainly over Fajr and Isha, because each authority settles on a slightly different angle of the sun below the horizon — a few minutes either way is normal. Asr here follows the Hanafi reckoning, which places it noticeably later in the afternoon than the other schools would. Where your local mosque differs, follow the mosque — that is the timetable the congregation keeps.
