Prayer Times in Créteil, France

Créteil prayer times explained

Sunrise 7:34 am, sunset 5:33 pm — about 9 hours and 59 minutes of daylight in Créteil today. None of the five are fixed to the clock — they follow the sun, and the sun keeps different hours in every month.

The clock against the sun

Solar noon in Créteil falls about 34 minutes after twelve o'clock. It explains the 12:34 pm Dhuhr — the timezone boundary is drawn some way from this city's own meridian. It is not an error — timezones are drawn for administrative convenience, not astronomical accuracy.

Why your mosque may differ slightly

Calculations come from Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. The disagreement between methods lives almost entirely in Fajr and Isha, where the sun is below the horizon and the chosen angle decides the time. Asr is Hanafi on this page, so expect it later than a Shafi timetable would show. If the mosque down the road announces something a few minutes different, pray with the mosque.

Qibla from Créteil

Turn east-south-east, about 119°, for the qibla. Makkah is around 4,485 kilometres (2,787 miles) away in a straight line.

A walk through today's times

The first call comes at 5:44 am, for Fajr. The sun appears at 7:34 am, which ends the Fajr period. After the sun peaks, Dhuhr is prayed at 12:34 pm, and Asr at 3:47 pm. Maghrib is prayed at 5:33 pm as the light goes, then Isha at 7:03 pm. Sunrise to sunset, today runs about 9 hours and 59 minutes.

Other France timetables

France has 18 other cities covered on this site. It is worth switching to the right one when you travel — a few hundred kilometres east or west moves Fajr and Maghrib by a noticeable margin.

If you are fasting

Stop eating by 5:44 am; break the fast at 5:33 pm. That is about 11 hours and 49 minutes on today's times. The full month is listed below if you want to see where the fast is heading.

Isha to Fajr

From Isha to Fajr is around 10 hours and 41 minutes at the moment. The final third of the night carries particular weight in the tradition, and it is measured from Isha to Fajr rather than by the clock.

What changes between summer and winter

At this latitude, midsummer creates a real difficulty: the sky never fully darkens, so there is no moment when the sun sits far enough below the horizon to give a clear Fajr or Isha. Communities in places like Créteil generally follow a local ruling through those weeks — the nearest large mosque or Islamic centre will have guidance. The rest of the year the calculated times work as normal.
