Prayer Times in Laxou, France

Laxou prayer times explained

The direction of prayer from Laxou is east-south-east, or 123° if you are using a compass app. Makkah lies some 4,248 kilometres away, and the times on this page are calculated for this city specifically rather than for the country as a whole.

Through the year

Laxou is far enough north that calculated Fajr and Isha times become unreliable around midsummer, when twilight lasts all night. Most communities this far up adopt a local ruling for those weeks; ask at your mosque. Outside that stretch, the ordinary calculation applies.

The fasting day in Laxou

The fasting day here runs 5:29 am to 5:19 pm: suhoor closes at the first, iftar comes at the second. Today it works out to some 11 hours and 50 minutes. The full month is listed below if you want to see where the fast is heading.

Method and madhab

Calculations come from Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. Where two calculations disagree it is nearly always Fajr or Isha: those depend on twilight, and twilight is a judgement call. Asr here follows the Hanafi reckoning, which places it noticeably later in the afternoon than the other schools would. Local practice wins over any website, this one included.

If you are travelling

There are 18 more France cities here, and each has its own times rather than sharing Laxou's. The list under the timetable below will take you to any of them.

Today's timetable

Fajr opens the day at 5:29 am, well before first light. By 7:18 am the sun is up and Fajr's time has passed. Next is Dhuhr at 12:19 pm, then Asr in the afternoon at 3:32 pm. Maghrib comes with sunset at 5:19 pm, and Isha closes the day at 6:49 pm. Around 10 hours and 1 minutes of daylight, all told.

For tahajjud

Laxou gets roughly 10 hours and 40 minutes of night between the last prayer and the first. For anyone praying tahajjud, the last third of that period is the part traditionally singled out — work back from Fajr rather than forward from Isha to find it.
