Fasting hours

The yearly swing

Summer and winter look like different timetables entirely in Malalbergo. The times can shift by several hours between the two ends of the year.

Finding the qibla

Face south-east — roughly 126° on a compass — and you are pointed at the Kaaba. That puts the Kaaba roughly 3,660 km — 2,274 miles — from here.

Elsewhere in Italy

There are 23 more Italy cities here, and each has its own times rather than sharing Malalbergo's. It is worth switching to the right one when you travel — a few hundred kilometres east or west moves Fajr and Maghrib by a noticeable margin.

The last third of the night

Malalbergo gets roughly 10 hours and 29 minutes of night between the last prayer and the first. The final third of the night carries particular weight in the tradition, and it is measured from Isha to Fajr rather than by the clock.

Malalbergo today, prayer by prayer

Everything begins with Fajr, 5:06 am today. The window stays open until sunrise, 6:47 am. Midday brings Dhuhr at 11:58 am; Asr comes round at 3:23 pm. Sunset brings Maghrib at 5:07 pm; Isha is the last, at 6:37 pm. That is some 10 hours and 20 minutes between the sun coming up and going down.

Where these times come from

The calculation used here is Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. Dhuhr, Asr and Maghrib are largely settled across methods; Fajr and Isha are where authorities part company. Asr is Hanafi on this page, so expect it later than a Shafi timetable would show. A small gap between this page and your nearest masjid is nothing to worry about; go with theirs.
