Lining up with the Kaaba

Turn east-south-east, about 123°, for the qibla. That puts the Kaaba roughly 3,906 km — 2,427 miles — from here.

The calculation behind them

Calculations come from Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. The disagreement between methods lives almost entirely in Fajr and Isha, where the sun is below the horizon and the chosen angle decides the time. Asr is Hanafi on this page, so expect it later than a Shafi timetable would show. If the mosque down the road announces something a few minutes different, pray with the mosque.

Isha to Fajr

From Isha to Fajr is around 10 hours and 32 minutes at the moment. The final third of the night carries particular weight in the tradition, and it is measured from Isha to Fajr rather than by the clock.

Today's timetable

It starts in the dark, with Fajr at 5:18 am. By 7:01 am the sun is up and Fajr's time has passed. Midday brings Dhuhr at 12:09 pm; Asr comes round at 3:33 pm. Maghrib is prayed at 5:16 pm as the light goes, then Isha at 6:46 pm. Sunrise to sunset, today runs about 10 hours and 15 minutes.
