Prayer Times in Fuzhou, China

About the times on this page

Every time on this page traces back to one pair of numbers: 27.98° N, 116.36° E, the position of Fuzhou itself. The difference between one town and the next is only minutes, but those minutes are the whole of Fajr and Maghrib.

Why your mosque may differ slightly

Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah is the standard applied to this page. The disagreement between methods lives almost entirely in Fajr and Isha, where the sun is below the horizon and the chosen angle decides the time. For Asr this page uses the Hanafi position — later in the day than the majority view. If the mosque down the road announces something a few minutes different, pray with the mosque.

If you are fasting

Stop eating by 5:02 am; break the fast at 5:33 pm. That is about 12 hours and 31 minutes on today's times. Scroll to the month view to see how the length changes as Ramadan progresses.

Qibla from Fuzhou

Turn west-north-west, about 284°, for the qibla. That puts the Kaaba roughly 7,642 km — 4,748 miles — from here. Worth remembering that a phone compass points to magnetic north, which can sit several degrees off true north depending on where you are.

How much the times move

Fuzhou sits far enough from the equator for the difference to be felt. Midsummer stretches the day, midwinter compresses it, and the prayer times follow.

Today's timetable

It starts in the dark, with Fajr at 5:02 am. The sun appears at 6:23 am, which ends the Fajr period. After the sun peaks, Dhuhr is prayed at 11:58 am, and Asr at 3:57 pm. Maghrib is prayed at 5:33 pm as the light goes, then Isha at 7:03 pm. Sunrise to sunset, today runs about 11 hours and 10 minutes.

The night in between

From Isha to Fajr is around 9 hours and 59 minutes at the moment. The final third of the night carries particular weight in the tradition, and it is measured from Isha to Fajr rather than by the clock.
