Prayer Times in Guangzhou, China

Praying in Guangzhou

Guangzhou currently has about 9 hours and 53 minutes of night, from Isha at 7:20 pm through to Fajr at 5:13 am. Everything else on this page hangs off the same two points: when the sun sets and when it comes back.

Fasting hours

Suhoor closes at 5:13 am in Guangzhou, with iftar at 5:50 pm. Roughly 12 hours and 37 minutes, going by today's figures. The monthly table further down shows the window widening or narrowing day by day, which helps when planning meals a week ahead.

Today's timetable

Fajr opens the day at 5:13 am, well before first light. By 6:31 am the sun is up and Fajr's time has passed. Next is Dhuhr at 12:11 pm, then Asr in the afternoon at 4:14 pm. The sun goes down at Maghrib, 5:50 pm, and the day ends with Isha at 7:20 pm. That gives Guangzhou roughly 11 hours and 19 minutes of daylight today.

What changes between summer and winter

Guangzhou sits far enough from the equator for the difference to be felt. Midsummer stretches the day, midwinter compresses it, and the prayer times follow.

The direction of prayer

From this city the direction is west-north-west, or 285° if you prefer the number. That puts the Kaaba roughly 7,472 km — 4,643 miles — from here. If you are marking a permanent direction in a room, check true north rather than trusting a phone compass alone.

Method and madhab

Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah is the standard applied to this page. Methods differ mainly over Fajr and Isha, because each authority settles on a slightly different angle of the sun below the horizon — a few minutes either way is normal. Asr is Hanafi on this page, so expect it later than a Shafi timetable would show. Where your local mosque differs, follow the mosque — that is the timetable the congregation keeps.
