Prayer Times in Guozhen, China

Guozhen prayer times explained

Between the last prayer of one day and the first of the next, Guozhen gets roughly 10 hours and 9 minutes of darkness. Everything else on this page hangs off the same two points: when the sun sets and when it comes back.

Which way to face in Guozhen

The qibla from here runs west, a bearing of about 277°. That puts the Kaaba roughly 6,673 km — 4,146 miles — from here.

From Fajr to Isha

Fajr is at 5:40 am — early, and in darkness. The window stays open until sunrise, 7:08 am. Midday brings Dhuhr at 12:34 pm; Asr comes round at 4:23 pm. Maghrib comes with sunset at 6:01 pm, and Isha closes the day at 7:31 pm. Around 10 hours and 53 minutes of daylight, all told.

A note on the method used

These times follow Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. Where two calculations disagree it is nearly always Fajr or Isha: those depend on twilight, and twilight is a judgement call. For Asr this page uses the Hanafi position — later in the day than the majority view. Local practice wins over any website, this one included.

Suhoor and iftar in Guozhen

The fasting day here runs 5:40 am to 6:01 pm: suhoor closes at the first, iftar comes at the second. Today it works out to some 12 hours and 21 minutes. Scroll to the month view to see how the length changes as Ramadan progresses.

The clock against the sun

Solar noon in Guozhen falls about 34 minutes after twelve o'clock. That is why Dhuhr sits at 12:34 pm rather than just past midday, and it carries through to Asr, Maghrib and Isha as well. Nothing is wrong with the calculation; timezones are political lines, and the sun does not consult them.

The yearly swing

Guozhen sits far enough from the equator for the difference to be felt. Midsummer stretches the day, midwinter compresses it, and the prayer times follow.

Isha to Fajr

Guozhen gets roughly 10 hours and 9 minutes of night between the last prayer and the first. For anyone praying tahajjud, the last third of that period is the part traditionally singled out — work back from Fajr rather than forward from Isha to find it.

A few things worth knowing

No need to bookmark a timetable: the page recalculates for Guozhen daily.
