Prayer Times in Hechi, China

Hechi prayer times explained

There are around 9 hours and 55 minutes between Isha and Fajr in Hechi just now. The whole timetable below follows the same movement — as the nights lengthen, every time on the page moves with them.

A quirk of the timezone

Solar noon in Hechi falls about 31 minutes after twelve o'clock. That is why Dhuhr sits at 12:31 pm rather than just past midday, and it carries through to Asr, Maghrib and Isha as well. This catches people out regularly, but prayer follows the sun, and the clock is only the label we put on it.

How much the times move

Hechi sits far enough from the equator for the difference to be felt. Midsummer stretches the day, midwinter compresses it, and the prayer times follow.

Which way to face in Hechi

From this city the direction is west-north-west, or 282° if you prefer the number. That puts the Kaaba roughly 6,920 km — 4,300 miles — from here. Worth remembering that a phone compass points to magnetic north, which can sit several degrees off true north depending on where you are.

Suhoor and iftar in Hechi

Suhoor closes at 5:34 am in Hechi, with iftar at 6:09 pm. Roughly 12 hours and 35 minutes, going by today's figures. Scroll to the month view to see how the length changes as Ramadan progresses.

From Fajr to Isha

Fajr opens the day at 5:34 am, well before first light. The window stays open until sunrise, 6:53 am. Next is Dhuhr at 12:31 pm, then Asr in the afternoon at 4:33 pm. The sun goes down at Maghrib, 6:09 pm, and the day ends with Isha at 7:39 pm. That gives Hechi roughly 11 hours and 16 minutes of daylight today.

A note on the method used

The underlying method is Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. Methods differ mainly over Fajr and Isha, because each authority settles on a slightly different angle of the sun below the horizon — a few minutes either way is normal. Asr here follows the Hanafi reckoning, which places it noticeably later in the afternoon than the other schools would. Where your local mosque differs, follow the mosque — that is the timetable the congregation keeps.
