Prayer Times in Hefei, China

About the times on this page

As things stand today, the first prayer in Hefei is at 5:01 am and the last at 6:53 pm. They are not fixed — the sun moves them a little every day, and the page keeps up on its own.

Through the year

Hefei sits far enough from the equator for the difference to be felt. Midsummer stretches the day, midwinter compresses it, and the prayer times follow.

Lining up with the Kaaba

Turn west-north-west, about 283°, for the qibla. Makkah is around 7,630 kilometres (4,741 miles) away in a straight line. Worth remembering that a phone compass points to magnetic north, which can sit several degrees off true north depending on where you are.

How the day runs in Hefei

The first call comes at 5:01 am, for Fajr. The window stays open until sunrise, 6:25 am. Midday brings Dhuhr at 11:55 am; Asr comes round at 3:46 pm. Maghrib is prayed at 5:23 pm as the light goes, then Isha at 6:53 pm. Sunrise to sunset, today runs about 10 hours and 58 minutes.

Why your mosque may differ slightly

Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah is the standard applied to this page. The disagreement between methods lives almost entirely in Fajr and Isha, where the sun is below the horizon and the chosen angle decides the time. Asr is Hanafi on this page, so expect it later than a Shafi timetable would show. If the mosque down the road announces something a few minutes different, pray with the mosque.

For tahajjud

Between Isha at 6:53 pm and Fajr at 5:01 am there are about 10 hours and 8 minutes. If you pray tahajjud, the final third of that stretch is the one to aim for; counting backwards from Fajr is the easier way to locate it.

Fasting hours

Stop eating by 5:01 am; break the fast at 5:23 pm. That is about 12 hours and 22 minutes on today's times. The full month is listed below if you want to see where the fast is heading.
