Prayer Times in Luoyang, China

What these times mean for Luoyang

Luoyang gets about 10 hours and 50 minutes of daylight today, and the five prayer times are spaced across it. That number is the one driving the whole timetable: lengthen the day and Isha moves back, shorten it and the afternoon prayers crowd together.

Ramadan timings

The fasting day here runs 5:21 am to 5:39 pm: suhoor closes at the first, iftar comes at the second. Today it works out to some 12 hours and 18 minutes. The full month is listed below if you want to see where the fast is heading.

A note on the method used

Calculations come from Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. Where two calculations disagree it is nearly always Fajr or Isha: those depend on twilight, and twilight is a judgement call. For Asr this page uses the Hanafi position — later in the day than the majority view. Local practice wins over any website, this one included.

The shape of the day

Fajr is at 5:21 am — early, and in darkness. By 6:49 am the sun is up and Fajr's time has passed. Dhuhr 12:14 pm, Asr 4:01 pm — the two that carry the middle of the day. Maghrib comes with sunset at 5:39 pm, and Isha closes the day at 7:09 pm. Around 10 hours and 50 minutes of daylight, all told.

Finding the qibla

The qibla from here runs west, a bearing of about 279°. Makkah is around 7,128 kilometres (4,429 miles) away in a straight line. If you are marking a permanent direction in a room, check true north rather than trusting a phone compass alone.

The yearly swing

The seasons show here without dominating. Summer in Luoyang brings earlier Fajr times and a later Isha; winter pulls everything inward, and Maghrib can arrive while the afternoon still feels unfinished. Expect an hour or two of movement between the extremes.
