Prayer Times in Luzhou, China

Praying in Luzhou

There are around 11 hours and 19 minutes between sunrise and sunset in Luzhou today. Prayer times are anchored to the sun rather than the clock, so as that figure grows and shrinks across the year, every time below moves with it.

The shape of the day

The first call comes at 5:08 am, for Fajr. The window stays open until sunrise, 6:26 am. Dhuhr 12:06 pm, Asr 4:09 pm — the two that carry the middle of the day. Maghrib is prayed at 5:45 pm as the light goes, then Isha at 7:15 pm. Sunrise to sunset, today runs about 11 hours and 19 minutes.

Lining up with the Kaaba

Turn west-north-west, about 285°, for the qibla. The distance works out to about 7,590 kilometres, or 4,716 miles. If you are marking a permanent direction in a room, check true north rather than trusting a phone compass alone.

Through the year

Luzhou sits far enough from the equator for the difference to be felt. Midsummer stretches the day, midwinter compresses it, and the prayer times follow.

Ramadan timings

Stop eating by 5:08 am; break the fast at 5:45 pm. That is about 12 hours and 37 minutes on today's times. The monthly table further down shows the window widening or narrowing day by day, which helps when planning meals a week ahead.

The calculation behind them

Calculations come from Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. The disagreement between methods lives almost entirely in Fajr and Isha, where the sun is below the horizon and the chosen angle decides the time. Asr here follows the Hanafi reckoning, which places it noticeably later in the afternoon than the other schools would. If the mosque down the road announces something a few minutes different, pray with the mosque.
