Prayer Times in Qingdao, China

Prayer times in Qingdao

Qingdao prays Fajr at 4:50 am today, with Maghrib at 5:05 pm and Isha at 6:35 pm. They are not fixed — the sun moves them a little every day, and the page keeps up on its own.

How the times are worked out

Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah is the standard applied to this page. The disagreement between methods lives almost entirely in Fajr and Isha, where the sun is below the horizon and the chosen angle decides the time. Asr is Hanafi on this page, so expect it later than a Shafi timetable would show. If the mosque down the road announces something a few minutes different, pray with the mosque.

Today's timetable

Everything begins with Fajr, 4:50 am today. The sun appears at 6:19 am, which ends the Fajr period. Dhuhr follows at 11:42 am once the sun has tipped past its highest point, and Asr at 3:26 pm. Maghrib is prayed at 5:05 pm as the light goes, then Isha at 6:35 pm. Sunrise to sunset, today runs about 10 hours and 46 minutes.

The fasting day in Qingdao

Stop eating by 4:50 am; break the fast at 5:05 pm. That is about 12 hours and 15 minutes on today's times. The full month is listed below if you want to see where the fast is heading.

Other China timetables

China has 180 other cities covered on this site. It is worth switching to the right one when you travel — a few hundred kilometres east or west moves Fajr and Maghrib by a noticeable margin.

The direction of prayer

Turn west-north-west, about 283°, for the qibla. Makkah is around 7,808 kilometres (4,852 miles) away in a straight line. Compass apps usually read magnetic north rather than true north, so allow a few degrees of local declination if you are setting a prayer mat precisely.

The yearly swing

Summer and winter look like different timetables entirely in Qingdao. The times can shift by several hours between the two ends of the year.
