Prayer Times in Tongliao, China

Prayer times in Tongliao

From Tongliao, the qibla points west — a bearing of about 281° on a compass. Makkah lies some 7,793 kilometres away, and the times on this page are calculated for this city specifically rather than for the country as a whole.

How much the times move

The yearly swing here is substantial. In June, Fajr in Tongliao can fall in the small hours with Isha holding off until late evening; in December the whole day from Fajr to Isha is over in a short span. Check the monthly timetable rather than assuming last season's times still hold.

Fasting hours

The fasting day here runs 4:44 am to 4:45 pm: suhoor closes at the first, iftar comes at the second. Today it works out to some 12 hours and 1 minutes. The monthly table further down shows the window widening or narrowing day by day, which helps when planning meals a week ahead.

Isha to Fajr

Between Isha at 6:15 pm and Fajr at 4:44 am there are about 10 hours and 29 minutes. If you pray tahajjud, the final third of that stretch is the one to aim for; counting backwards from Fajr is the easier way to locate it.

A note on the method used

Calculations come from Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. Where two calculations disagree it is nearly always Fajr or Isha: those depend on twilight, and twilight is a judgement call. Asr is Hanafi on this page, so expect it later than a Shafi timetable would show. Local practice wins over any website, this one included.

How the day runs in Tongliao

Fajr is at 4:44 am — early, and in darkness. You have until 6:23 am, when the sun comes up. Next is Dhuhr at 11:35 am, then Asr in the afternoon at 3:02 pm. Maghrib comes with sunset at 4:45 pm, and Isha closes the day at 6:15 pm. Around 10 hours and 22 minutes of daylight, all told.

The clock against the sun

True midday in Tongliao arrives some 25 minutes before what the clock reads. Hence Dhuhr at 11:35 am, with the rest of the afternoon following along behind it. This catches people out regularly, but prayer follows the sun, and the clock is only the label we put on it.
