What these times mean for Weihai

Ramadan timings

Suhoor closes at 4:44 am in Weihai, with iftar at 4:55 pm. Roughly 12 hours and 11 minutes, going by today's figures. The full month is listed below if you want to see where the fast is heading.

The calculation behind them

Calculations come from Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. Methods differ mainly over Fajr and Isha, because each authority settles on a slightly different angle of the sun below the horizon — a few minutes either way is normal. For Asr this page uses the Hanafi position — later in the day than the majority view. Where your local mosque differs, follow the mosque — that is the timetable the congregation keeps.

Clock time and solar time

The sun reaches its high point roughly 25 minutes before noon here. That is why Dhuhr sits at 11:35 am rather than just past midday, and it carries through to Asr, Maghrib and Isha as well. Nothing is wrong with the calculation; timezones are political lines, and the sun does not consult them.

The shape of the day

Fajr opens the day at 4:44 am, well before first light. Sunrise at 6:15 am closes that window. Dhuhr 11:35 am, Asr 3:16 pm — the two that carry the middle of the day. The sun goes down at Maghrib, 4:55 pm, and the day ends with Isha at 6:25 pm. That gives Weihai roughly 10 hours and 40 minutes of daylight today.

Through the year

Summer and winter look like different timetables entirely in Weihai. The times can shift by several hours between the two ends of the year.

The last third of the night

Weihai gets roughly 10 hours and 19 minutes of night between the last prayer and the first. The final third of the night carries particular weight in the tradition, and it is measured from Isha to Fajr rather than by the clock.
