Prayer Times in Zunyi, China

Zunyi prayer times explained

Anyone praying in Zunyi faces west, which works out to around 280°. The Kaaba is about 6,742 kilometres off; the timetable below comes from this city's own coordinates.

What changes between summer and winter

Zunyi sits far enough from the equator for the difference to be felt. Midsummer stretches the day, midwinter compresses it, and the prayer times follow.

Suhoor and iftar in Zunyi

Suhoor ends at Fajr — 5:41 am today — and the fast breaks at Maghrib, 6:09 pm. Around 12 hours and 28 minutes without food or water today. Scroll to the month view to see how the length changes as Ramadan progresses.

Zunyi today, prayer by prayer

Everything begins with Fajr, 5:41 am today. You have until 7:02 am, when the sun comes up. Midday brings Dhuhr at 12:36 pm; Asr comes round at 4:33 pm. Sunset brings Maghrib at 6:09 pm; Isha is the last, at 7:39 pm. That is some 11 hours and 7 minutes between the sun coming up and going down.

Other China timetables

180 other cities in China are listed on this site, each with its own calculated timetable. It is worth switching to the right one when you travel — a few hundred kilometres east or west moves Fajr and Maghrib by a noticeable margin.

Where these times come from

Calculations come from Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. Dhuhr, Asr and Maghrib are largely settled across methods; Fajr and Isha are where authorities part company. For Asr this page uses the Hanafi position — later in the day than the majority view. A small gap between this page and your nearest masjid is nothing to worry about; go with theirs.

A quirk of the timezone

Solar noon in Zunyi falls about 36 minutes after twelve o'clock. That is why Dhuhr sits at 12:36 pm rather than just past midday, and it carries through to Asr, Maghrib and Isha as well. This catches people out regularly, but prayer follows the sun, and the clock is only the label we put on it.
