Prayer Times in Friedberg, Germany

About the times on this page

Friedberg sits at 48.35° N, 10.98° E, and the timetable here is built from that position rather than a national average. Two towns an hour apart see the sun rise at different moments, and since Fajr and Maghrib follow the sun rather than the clock, those minutes carry straight through to the timetable.

How the day runs in Friedberg

Fajr opens the day at 5:11 am, well before first light. The window stays open until sunrise, 7:00 am. Midday brings Dhuhr at 12:00 pm; Asr comes round at 3:13 pm. Maghrib comes with sunset at 4:59 pm, and Isha closes the day at 6:29 pm. Around 9 hours and 59 minutes of daylight, all told.

Qibla from Friedberg

The qibla from here runs south-east, a bearing of about 129°. Makkah is around 3,940 kilometres (2,448 miles) away in a straight line.

What changes between summer and winter

Friedberg is far enough north that calculated Fajr and Isha times become unreliable around midsummer, when twilight lasts all night. Most communities this far up adopt a local ruling for those weeks; ask at your mosque. Outside that stretch, the ordinary calculation applies.

If you are fasting

The fasting day here runs 5:11 am to 4:59 pm: suhoor closes at the first, iftar comes at the second. Today it works out to some 11 hours and 48 minutes. The full month is listed below if you want to see where the fast is heading.

Method and madhab

The underlying method is Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. Where two calculations disagree it is nearly always Fajr or Isha: those depend on twilight, and twilight is a judgement call. Asr here follows the Hanafi reckoning, which places it noticeably later in the afternoon than the other schools would. Local practice wins over any website, this one included.
