Prayer Times in Geesthacht, Germany

Geesthacht prayer times explained

Geesthacht prays Fajr at 5:12 am today, with Maghrib at 4:50 pm and Isha at 6:20 pm. They are not fixed — the sun moves them a little every day, and the page keeps up on its own.

Other Germany timetables

Germany has 36 other cities covered on this site. It is worth switching to the right one when you travel — a few hundred kilometres east or west moves Fajr and Maghrib by a noticeable margin.

Qibla from Geesthacht

Face south-east — roughly 133° on a compass — and you are pointed at the Kaaba. Makkah is around 4,346 kilometres (2,701 miles) away in a straight line.

The yearly swing

There is a caveat to the summer timetable in Geesthacht. For several weeks around the solstice the sun does not dip deep enough for a true Fajr or Isha, and the calculated values become estimates. Local scholarly guidance takes over in that period.

If you are fasting

Suhoor ends at Fajr — 5:12 am today — and the fast breaks at Maghrib, 4:50 pm. Around 11 hours and 38 minutes without food or water today. The monthly table further down shows the window widening or narrowing day by day, which helps when planning meals a week ahead.

The shape of the day

Everything begins with Fajr, 5:12 am today. The sun appears at 7:13 am, which ends the Fajr period. Dhuhr follows at 12:02 pm once the sun has tipped past its highest point, and Asr at 3:01 pm. Sunset brings Maghrib at 4:50 pm; Isha is the last, at 6:20 pm. That is some 9 hours and 37 minutes between the sun coming up and going down.

Why your mosque may differ slightly

The calculation used here is Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. Dhuhr, Asr and Maghrib are largely settled across methods; Fajr and Isha are where authorities part company. Asr here follows the Hanafi reckoning, which places it noticeably later in the afternoon than the other schools would. A small gap between this page and your nearest masjid is nothing to worry about; go with theirs.
