Prayer Times in Bujari, Brazil

Prayer times in Bujari

Bujari gets about 12 hours and 27 minutes of daylight today, and the five prayer times are spaced across it. Prayer times are anchored to the sun rather than the clock, so as that figure grows and shrinks across the year, every time below moves with it.

Qibla from Bujari

The qibla from here runs east-north-east, a bearing of about 71°. That puts the Kaaba roughly 12,234 km — 7,602 miles — from here.

Suhoor and iftar in Bujari

The fasting day here runs 3:48 am to 5:29 pm: suhoor closes at the first, iftar comes at the second. Today it works out to some 13 hours and 41 minutes. Scroll to the month view to see how the length changes as Ramadan progresses.

The yearly swing

Bujari is close enough to the equator that the seasons barely register in the prayer times. Longest day and shortest day differ by very little, and Ramadan feels much the same whichever month it lands in.

The clock against the sun

True midday in Bujari arrives some 45 minutes before what the clock reads. Hence Dhuhr at 11:15 am, with the rest of the afternoon following along behind it. Nothing is wrong with the calculation; timezones are political lines, and the sun does not consult them.

The shape of the day

Fajr is at 3:48 am — early, and in darkness. The window stays open until sunrise, 5:02 am. Dhuhr follows at 11:15 am once the sun has tipped past its highest point, and Asr at 3:39 pm. Maghrib comes with sunset at 5:29 pm, and Isha closes the day at 6:59 pm. Around 12 hours and 27 minutes of daylight, all told.

Isha to Fajr

From Isha to Fajr is around 8 hours and 49 minutes at the moment. If you pray tahajjud, the final third of that stretch is the one to aim for; counting backwards from Fajr is the easier way to locate it.

Where these times come from

The underlying method is Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. Where two calculations disagree it is nearly always Fajr or Isha: those depend on twilight, and twilight is a judgement call. Asr here follows the Hanafi reckoning, which places it noticeably later in the afternoon than the other schools would. Local practice wins over any website, this one included.
