Prayer Times in Oriximiná, Brazil

Oriximiná prayer times explained

Facing the Kaaba from Oriximiná means turning east-north-east, roughly 69°. The Kaaba is about 10,668 kilometres off; the timetable below comes from this city's own coordinates.

The night in between

Between Isha at 8:02 pm and Fajr at 5:09 am there are about 9 hours and 7 minutes. For anyone praying tahajjud, the last third of that period is the part traditionally singled out — work back from Fajr rather than forward from Isha to find it.

A walk through today's times

Everything begins with Fajr, 5:09 am today. The window stays open until sunrise, 6:22 am. Next is Dhuhr at 12:27 pm, then Asr in the afternoon at 4:49 pm. Maghrib is prayed at 6:32 pm as the light goes, then Isha at 8:02 pm. Sunrise to sunset, today runs about 12 hours and 10 minutes.

How much the times move

Oriximiná is close enough to the equator that the seasons barely register in the prayer times. Longest day and shortest day differ by very little, and Ramadan feels much the same whichever month it lands in.

Ramadan timings

Stop eating by 5:09 am; break the fast at 6:32 pm. That is about 13 hours and 23 minutes on today's times. The full month is listed below if you want to see where the fast is heading.

Why Dhuhr lands where it does

The sun reaches its high point roughly 27 minutes after noon here. That is why Dhuhr sits at 12:27 pm rather than just past midday, and it carries through to Asr, Maghrib and Isha as well. Nothing is wrong with the calculation; timezones are political lines, and the sun does not consult them.

The calculation behind them

Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah is the standard applied to this page. The disagreement between methods lives almost entirely in Fajr and Isha, where the sun is below the horizon and the chosen angle decides the time. Asr is Hanafi on this page, so expect it later than a Shafi timetable would show. If the mosque down the road announces something a few minutes different, pray with the mosque.

A few things worth knowing

No need to bookmark a timetable: the page recalculates for Oriximiná daily.
